A Personal Insight

Hi Designers! Welcome back to the AI for Interior Designers blog! I'm Jenna Gaidusek, and today we're diving into a topic that's on everyone's mind: Is AI going to take our jobs?

Last week, I was out in sunny California for some in-person AI presentations. It was a whirlwind trip, packed with so much cool info about the latest AI tech in our industry. From new programs by Sherwin Williams to the latest in AI-powered design tools, there's a ton to unpack.

A question that keeps popping up is whether AI will replace us. It's a totally valid concern, and I won't sugarcoat it. Yes, some jobs might be lost, but on the flip side, new opportunities will also emerge. The key is to stay in the loop and adapt.

Right now, AI is an awesome tool for whipping up design concepts quickly. I use it to create inspiration images and even draft budgets. However, AI still has its limitations, especially when it comes to understanding space requirements and human interaction within a space. So, for now, we're safe, but we definitely need to keep up with the tech.

Virtual reality (VR) is another exciting area where AI is making big strides. Just imagine your clients being able to walk through a virtual version of their redesigned space before making any purchases. It's not just a dream; it's becoming a reality.

But let's be honest—AI isn't perfect. It can't replace the human touch that we bring to our designs. Our creativity, understanding of client needs, and ability to adapt are irreplaceable. So, while AI can handle some tasks, it can't replicate the full scope of what we do.

In conclusion, AI is a tool that can boost our work, not replace it. By staying informed and embracing these technologies, we can continue to thrive in this ever-evolving industry.

Until next time, keep innovating, keep designing, and keep sharing your unique perspectives with the world. Don’t forget to follow and subscribe for more insights on AI in interior design. See you in the next episode!

Warm regards,
